Program Director / Owner
Annie was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She completed her Bachelors in Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo prior to moving to Calgary in 2015. She will also be completing a Master of Science from the University of Calgary in December 2018.
Annie has always been interested in childcare and education. She has previously worked at the Kumon Learning Centre, Toronto District School Board, and shortly volunteered at Happy Valley Daycare. Professionally, Annie has also worked as Microbiology Research Technician at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Annie has diverse work experiences in childcare and outside of childcare, however, she always found herself drawn to this industry. On her spare time, she volunteers as a Sunday school teacher (ages 2-10) at her church and she has also volunteered as a camp leader for 9 consecutive summers on the Six Nations reserve in Ontario. Outside of the daycare, you can find Annie either playing volleyball, in the mountains, or napping on her couch.

Business Director / Owner
Also known as Uncle Kevin to the kids, he is the Business Director for Little Roots Learning Centre. He is responsible for all back end support such as the development of the physical and online space. He manages all media, finance, marketing, HR, client care and many more. His overall role is to provide the necessary support for Annie to run the programming smoothly.
Similar to Annie, Kevin also has a heart for children. He leads the youth group at his church and is invested in their personal growth. On his free time, you would find him playing volleyball, taking on various construction projects, or editing photographs for his photography business.

After completing my bachelor’s degree in Nursing, I gained lots of experience working with children and their family.
I believe every child is gifted and uniquely created. I strive to work with family on building a loving, welcoming and safe environment for children to explore and learn.
In my spare time I enjoy painting, singing, working out and spending time outdoors in the sun. I am always looking for fun ways to incorporate my interests into the teaching.
I am blessed to have a job that I love deeply and the opportunity working with Little Roots to play a small part in the early journeys of our future generation.

Hi, I’m Summer, and I’m so happy to join this warm and welcoming community. In Korea, I majored in English Education and taught students from elementary to high school. I have always believed in the power of education—not only to teach knowledge but also to nurture each child’s character and help them grow into who God created them to be.
With a vision God placed in my heart for the next generation, I feel so blessed to have this opportunity in Canada to be part of Little Roots. Being able to walk alongside children during such an important season of their lives, supporting their holistic growth, is deeply meaningful to me.
I know I still have much to learn, but with a heart full of love for children, I will do my best every day, working with my team, caring for each child, and praying for them as they grow.

My Name is Melissa and I am currently a student in the Early Learning and Child Care program at Mount Royal University and serves as the Children’s Director at my church.

I am a passionate and innovative educator, committed to sparking excitement and empowering young learners to uncover their unique talents while embracing their roles as thoughtful contributors to the community. It brings me great joy to ignite children’s curiosity and creativity, transforming education into a delightful adventure that inspires a lifelong love of learning.
I proudly completed my Early Childhood Education diploma at Grant MacEwan University in 2004, followed by a certificate in Flight, Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Curriculum Framework, in 2023.
It is a true privilege to be part of Little Roots Learning Centre. As a Preschool Teacher, I firmly believe in the power of collaboration with both parents and Little Roots’ team to create meaningful experiences that empower our little ones to grow into mighty learners.
In my free time, I find joy in exploring the wonders of nature, engaging in volunteer work, and indulging in my passion for scrapbooking.

Ms. Amber has been with Little Roots since she was 18 years old and we used to call her the baby of the family.
Now she is all grown up and has completed her Early Childhood Education from Bow Valley, earning her level 3.
We can't be more proud! Well done Amber!
Amber floats between all Little Roots locations but primarily serves the family at Renfrew.

My name is Xian (pronounced "Shian"). I studied Music Education in China and spent many years teaching elementary music classes. After immigrating to Canada, I had the pleasure of volunteering for seven years at the New Canadian Friendship Centre, where I supported immigrant children and their families. In 2023, I completed a Bachelor's in Bible and Theology, and I’m currently studying Early Childhood Education at Bow Valley College.
Led by God to be part of Little Roots Learning Centre, I’m honoured to work alongside such kind and wholehearted educators. I believe every child is fearfully and wonderfully made, full of God's promises. I am committed to nurturing young children with love, care, intention, and trust—embracing my role as a co-learner, co-researcher, and co-imaginer of possibilities. One of the most beautiful things I know is sharing in children’s excitement and joy through play-based learning, as they unfold into who they’re meant to be.
