*This is very condensed*
Annie and Kevin began their childcare journey with a deep sense of purpose, caring for children and learning alongside them. They faced many challenges but embraced the calling they felt God had placed on them. As the daycare grew, they realized they needed help. In response, a friend referred to them Helen, who was on missions in Thailand. After many prayers, Helen came on board in August 2019.
A few months later, around Christmas, Annie reconnected with Vicky, whom she had met during her time volunteering at a daycare where Vicky worked. Vicky had inspired Annie to pursue childcare while completing her Master’s at the University of Calgary. Shortly before Christmas, Vicky decided to join the team, and together they began building something special.
As a team, they discovered their shared passion, not just for caring for kids, but for supporting parents with a worry-free childcare experience. They believe in a simple, love-driven approach to childcare. For them, it's not about complex programs but creating an environment where kids are loved, heard, and cared for to build trust and strong relationships. They know that without these foundational elements, no extra programming can truly make a difference.

I graduated from University of Calgary with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2021. I had always wanted to be a police officer, but for some reason, I became interested in children. I've always loved children, but I never imagined I'd work in childcare because the only experience I have with children is I volunteer at church. I've been volunteering as a preschool teacher for about ten years. While seeking for positions in the criminal justice profession, I discovered that I wanted to learn more about children and teach, so I applied at a daycare. I truly loved and enjoyed it. Now that I've been working in this field for almost a year and a half, I've decided to further my study by returning to school and doing my level 2. My goal and purpose is to make a difference in the lives of every child I encounter and guide them in the right path because early childhood is the most essential stage of learning and growth.

I’m Liz and my family and I just recently moved to Calgary from Philippines. I am a proud and hands on mother of 3
adorable and energetic boys. I love spending time with my family, and I enjoy doing different activities with them such as travelling, baking, playing outside, doing arts and
crafts and many more.
I believe that my kids will only get one childhood and it is my job to make it a memorable one. Teaching kids has always been my passion. I make learning fun by being creative with the activities that I do with babies and kids. I enjoy seeing them grow and it makes me happy to watch them learn new things and develop.
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Guidance and Counseling. I also have a Master’s in Counseling. I already completed my Alberta Level 1 Early
Childhood Certification as well.

I have always had a heart for children for as long as I can remember. I have always found joy in babysitting and watching kids grow from little babies into smart, independent, children.
My love for that really flourished when my niece was born and I had the pleasure of watching her develop into such a kind, gentle young girl. In my spare time, I am at my church volunteering in the nursery and as a youth leader, out hiking in the mountains with my dog, or catching the occasional movie or two at the theatre!
I am so excited to start at Little Roots and meet all of you and your children. My goal is to provide a safe space for your children to learn and develop while being there to guide them.

My name is Karen. I’ve been married to my husband Jeff for 28 years. We have three young adult kids, two sons and my daughter who you all fondly know, the delightful Miss. Amber!
My previous work experience was with an early intervention company working with neuro-diverse and developmentally delayed children. Championing their development and celebrating milestones. My job entailed a variety of responsibilities that included direct and indirect work with the children.
I believe I have too many house plants. I can’t seem to stop buying them as they bring me so much joy. I’ve kept a fern alive since 1996, it’s older than my kids!
I would rather be outside; and in the summer, you can find me in the mountains, paddle-boarding on one of the glorious mountain lakes. I will never stop being in awe of the beauty that surrounds us.
I am looking forward to building relationships with the children at Little Roots. Excited to watch them grow and become all who they are meant to be. I marvel at the first five years of life and the joy it is to be part of the development and to foster their growth.

After completing my bachelor's and master's degrees in art in Korea, I gained valuable experience as a kindergarten teacher.
Upon moving to Canada, I started my journey in childcare by volunteering at a daycare in Edmonton. Over the past decade, I've witnessed the remarkable capabilities of children, reinforcing my strong belief in their potential as mighty learners. I look forward to the surprises and growth that each child at Little Roots will bring, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their educational journey.

I’m a passionate childcare worker with a deep love for nurturing young minds. My journey began as a practicum student, where I developed hands-on experience and a strong commitment to helping children grow and thrive. Now, as I work part-time at Little Roots while pursuing my bachelor’s degree in child studies, I continue to learn and grow my skills every day.
Having grown up with younger siblings who inspired my love for working with children, I understand the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment where kids can explore, learn, and build confidence.
When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy spending my days off with family or friends, usually at the movie theater or at church events! Cherishing those meaningful connections that motivate me to bring the same sense of care and community to my work.

Ambassador of Cuteness
Our daycare pup, Eevee, has been with the kids since she was just 8 weeks old. She is now 2.5 years old and loves them as much as the kids loves her.
Eevee is Annie & Kevin's dog-hter. She comes for random visits and always puts a smile on the kids' faces. She patiently allows the kids to poke and prod her as they please. The only thing she requires in exchange for her services is some belly scratches from the parents.
